Dessert in Glass with Cookies, Custard, and Strawberries: A Sweet Delight

Ingredients
  

  • Vanilla cookies Maria type: 200g
  • Pastelera cream can be store-bought or homemade
  • Fresh strawberries washed and chopped: 250g
  • Optional: Chantilly cream for topping
  • For the custard:
  • Milk: 500 ml
  • Flour: 1/2 cup
  • Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Egg yolks: 3
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons
  • Vanilla essence: 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon peel for infusion

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Custard:
  • Begin by heating half of the milk with the lemon peel and vanilla essence in a pot. Avoid boiling; just let it steep for flavor.
  • Mix the Flour:
  • In a separate bowl, dissolve the flour in the other half of the milk. Beat the egg yolks and sugar in another bowl until creamy and pale.
  • Combine:
  • Mix the yolk mixture with the milk and flour, letting it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add Hot Milk:
  • Gradually incorporate the hot milk (discarding the lemon peel), along with the butter, and stir continuously over low heat until the mixture thickens into a custard.
  • Cool:
  • Transfer the custard into a bowl, cover the surface with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  • Assemble the Dessert:
  • Crush vanilla cookies and layer them at the bottom of your serving glass.
  • Follow with a layer of custard and then a generous distribution of strawberries. Repeat the layering process until you reach the top.
  • Top & Serve:
  • Finish with a dollop of chantilly cream on top and a few extra strawberries for a stunning finish!
