Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Large skillet or cast iron pan
  • Pot for boiling pasta
  • Tongs
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk

Ingredients Overview

  • Steak & Shrimp: A bold combination of juicy beef and tender shrimp.
  • Blackened Seasoning: A flavorful spice blend that adds smoky heat.
  • Alfredo Sauce: A rich, creamy sauce that balances the spice.
  • Pasta: Fettuccine holds the sauce beautifully.

Ingredients

For the Blackened Steak & Shrimp

  • 1 (12 oz) ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 8 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun or blackened seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Alfredo Sauce

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Pasta

  • 12 oz fettuccine
  • 1 tablespoon salt (for boiling water)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Blacken the Steak

  1. Pat the steak dry and coat with 1 tablespoon olive oil.
  2. Generously season both sides with Cajun/blackened seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter.
  4. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust for preferred doneness). Remove from the pan, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.

Step 3: Cook the Shrimp

  1. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4: Make the Alfredo Sauce

  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously.
  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese, Cajun seasoning, black pepper, and salt. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.

Step 5: Assemble the Dish

Expert Tips

  • For Extra Heat: Add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the blackened seasoning.
  • Cheese Choices: For a richer Alfredo, mix in Romano or Asiago cheese.
  • Don’t Overcook the Shrimp: They cook quickly—remove them as soon as they turn opaque.

FAQs

Can I use a different cut of steak?
Yes! Ribeye, sirloin, or even filet mignon work well.

Can I make this dish ahead of time?
Yes! Store components separately and reheat gently before serving.

What’s the best way to reheat Alfredo sauce?
Reheat over low heat, stirring frequently. Add a splash of cream or milk to keep it smooth.

Storing & Freezing

  • Storing: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: Alfredo sauce doesn’t freeze well, but you can freeze the steak and shrimp separately for up to 2 months.

Substitutions & Variations

  • Lighter Version: Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Seafood-Only: Skip the steak and add more shrimp or even scallops.
