  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, diced and seeded Ensure the watermelon is ripe for optimal sweetness.
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons) Fresh lemons provide the best flavor; avoid bottled juice.
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste) Adjust sugar according to your taste preference.
  • 2 cups cold water Chilled water keeps the drink refreshing.
  • 1 handful fresh mint leaves For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cut the watermelon into small chunks and remove any seeds.
  2. Blend the watermelon chunks in a blender until smooth.
  3. Strain the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve if you desire a clearer lemonade.
Mixing
  1. In a large pitcher, combine the watermelon juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar, and cold water. Stir well until the sugar completely dissolves.
  2. Taste the lemonade and adjust the sugar and lemon balance according to your preference.
Serving
  1. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve chilled over ice. Optionally, add a slice of lemon on the rim for an extra festive touch.

Notes

Best served fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir well before serving again to incorporate settled ingredients.
