Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup vegan sausage Ensure it's a halal-compliant option.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten or chickpea flour If using chickpea flour, mix it separately first.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the vegan sausage, olive oil, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  2. Gradually add the vital wheat gluten or chickpea flour to the bowl with the spices and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a clean surface for about 5 minutes.
  4. Roll the dough into a log shape, about 6 inches long, and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil.
  5. Place the wrapped log in a steaming basket over boiling water, and steam for 30 minutes.
  6. Allow it to cool completely before unwrapping and slicing into your desired thickness.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Gently pan-fry slices in olive oil to reheat.
