Ingredients

For the dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a smaller bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warmed milk for about 5 minutes until foamy.
Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. Add the eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Whisk until smooth.
Combine
  1. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough begins to form.
Knead
  1. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
First Rise
  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape
  1. Punch the dough down, then transfer it to a floured surface. Divide into two equal parts. Shape each part into a loaf and place them in greased 9x5-inch loaf pans.
Second Rise
  1. Cover the loaf pans and let them rise for another hour.
Preheat Oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake
  1. Once risen, bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool
  1. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Knead the dough well to develop gluten for a soft texture. Use room temperature ingredients for the best results. Do not rush the dough rising for enhanced flavor and texture. Brush with an egg wash before baking for a golden crust. Experiment by adding flavors or toppings like chocolate chips or nuts.
