Ingredients
  

For the Pie Filling
  • 2 cups marionberries Fresh, ripe marionberries are preferred.
  • 2 cups blackberries Fresh blackberries work well.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust to taste based on the tartness of the berries.
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch Thickens the filling.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Dotted on top for richness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor.
For the Pie Crust
  • 1 piece pie crust Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 egg beaten with water (optional) For egg wash to achieve a golden crust.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine marionberries, blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss gently to coat the berries evenly.
  3. Place your pie crust in a pie dish, and pour the berry mixture into the crust. Ensure it’s spread evenly.
  4. Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of butter.
  5. If using a top crust, place it over the filling and crimp the edges to seal. Brush the top with an egg wash if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  2. Allow your pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use ripe marionberries and blackberries for best flavor. Cool completely before slicing for easier serving. Can be served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
