  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted Use fresh cherries for best flavor.
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons) Freshly squeezed is preferred.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 4 cups water Split into mixing and serving water.
  • Ice Ice, for serving Serves as a refreshing base.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and pit the fresh cherries.
  2. In a blender, combine the pitted cherries with 1 cup of water and blend until smooth.
  3. Strain the cherry puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing to extract the juice.
  4. Add fresh lemon juice and sugar to the cherry juice in the pitcher, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Mix in the remaining 3 cups of water, adjusting sweetness to taste.
  6. Serve by filling glasses with ice and pouring in the lemonade. Garnish as desired.

Notes

For an ideal result, chill the lemonade before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Not suitable for reheating.
