Ingredients

For the Beef Mixture
  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for less grease.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
For the Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional Toppings
  • sliced jalapeños
  • fresh herbs
  • sour cream

Method

Cooking the Beef
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until it begins to brown, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
  2. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion becomes translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it sauté for another 2 minutes.
Melting the Cheese
  1. Lower the heat, then sprinkle the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the pan to let the cheese melt, about 3-5 minutes.
Serving
  1. Once the cheese is bubbly and melted, remove the skillet from heat. Serve hot with your choice of toppings.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a microwave or gently in a skillet. You can freeze the beef mixture before adding cheese for future use.
