Cooking the Turkey
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground turkey. Cook for about 7-10 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned and crumbly.
- Once the turkey is cooked through, add the taco seasoning as per the packet instructions. You might require a little water to help blend the spices. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until fragrant.
Preparing and Assembling the Salad
- While the turkey is cooking, chop the romaine lettuce and wash it thoroughly. Place it in a large salad bowl or individual serving bowls.
- Layer the black beans, corn, cherry tomatoes, cheese, and diced avocado on top of the lettuce.
- Once the turkey has absorbed all the flavors, scoop it into the salad bowls over the toppings.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips on the side and a drizzle of your preferred dressing!
Notes
Substitutions: You can easily swap ground turkey for ground chicken, beef, or even plant-based alternatives for a different spin while keeping it halal! Timing: Cook your turkey on medium heat to avoid burning. Always drain excess fat to keep the dish light and healthy. Avoiding Mistakes: Remember not to overcook the turkey; it should be cooked just until it’s no longer pink for a juicy flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
