Tuna melts are the ultimate comfort food, combining creamy tuna salad with melty cheese on toasted bread.

Ingredients
  

For the Tuna Salad
  • 1 can canned tuna (drained)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon diced celery
  • 1 tablespoon diced onion
  • to taste Salt and pepper
For the Sandwich
  • 4 slices your favorite bread (sourdough, whole grain, or white)
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar or American)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for grilling)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, diced celery, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Assembly
  1. Spread the tuna mixture evenly on two slices of bread. Top each with a slice of cheese, and then place the remaining bread slices on top.
  2. Spread butter on the outer sides of the sandwiches.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, place the sandwiches. Grill each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let them cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing in half. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Pair your tuna melt with a side of crispy french fries or a fresh garden salad. For added variety, consider serving it alongside coleslaw or tomato soup.
