Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while you prepare the batter.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until well blended. Add the vanilla extract and eggs—mix until smooth and creamy.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, to keep the brownies fudgy.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness by inserting a toothpick. It should come out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
For an indulgent treat, serve with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or whipped cream. They also pair well with coffee or tea.
