  • 1 box cake mix (vanilla or yellow)
  • 3 count eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, and water. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder until creamy.
  4. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour half of the cake batter into the dish, then spread the ricotta mixture on top. Finally, pour the remaining cake batter over the ricotta mixture.
  5. If you’re feeling adventurous, sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Once done, allow the cake to cool slightly. Dust generously with powdered sugar before slicing.

For a Halal-friendly alternative, consider using a plant-based cake mix and dairy-free ricotta cheese. Avoid overmixing and ensure your oven is preheated to avoid uneven baking. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
