Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 ripe avocados Choose soft ones for easy mashing.
  • 1 lime, juiced Fresh lime juice is best.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin Optional for added flavor.
  • 0.5 onion, finely chopped Red onion can be used for a sweeter taste.
  • 2 roma tomatoes, diced Use firm tomatoes for better texture.
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro Can substitute with parsley.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Add more if you love garlic.
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped (optional) Increase or decrease based on spice preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the avocados in half and removing the pits. Use a spoon to scoop the green flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or a potato masher, gently mash the avocados until they reach your desired level of creaminess—some like it chunky, while others prefer it smooth.
  3. Squeeze in the lime juice to tweak that flavor profile. This will also help prevent the avocados from browning.
  4. Add the salt, cumin, finely chopped onion, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, and the optional jalapeño for heat. Mix well until combined.
  5. Give your guacamole a taste test. Add more lime juice or salt if needed to fit your preference.
  6. Enjoy your guacamole right away with tortilla chips, or use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or salads.

Notes

Serve your guacamole immediately for the best texture and flavor. To keep it green longer, press plastic wrap directly against the surface before refrigerating. Guacamole can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1-2 days.
