Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 slices slices of Texas Toast Use thick-cut Texas toast.
  • 1 pound sliced roast beef Ensure it's Halal-certified, if needed.
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese You can substitute with provolone or another melting cheese.
  • 2 cups beef broth This will be the base for your dipping sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons au jus seasoning Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • 4 tablespoons butter For buttering the toast.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the Texas toast slices on a baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced out evenly.
  3. Generously butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Flip the slices over and pile on the sliced roast beef on the unbuttered side, then top each with a slice of Swiss cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Making the Broth
  1. While the sandwiches are baking, heat the beef broth in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the au jus seasoning until fully incorporated, then taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Serving
  1. Once the Texas Toast is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly, remove from the oven.
  2. Cut each sandwich in half and serve with a small bowl of hot au jus for dipping.

Notes

For substitutions, use any thick white bread if Texas toast is unavailable. Ensure the toast does not overcrowd the baking sheet for crispy edges. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
