Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed
  • ½ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse your asparagus thoroughly under cool water. Snap off the woody ends and set them aside.
Make the Teriyaki Sauce
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and minced garlic until the sugar dissolves.
Cook the Asparagus
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat. Add the asparagus and sauté for 3-4 minutes until it becomes tender yet still crisp.
Glaze the Asparagus
  1. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the asparagus and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the asparagus nicely.
Garnish and Serve
  1. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the top to add a lovely crunch and extra flavor.
  2. Plate up your delightful Teriyaki Asparagus and enjoy it warm as a delicious side dish or even as a light main dish.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze uncooked asparagus in an airtight bag. Reheat in a hot skillet for about 2 minutes to maintain crispiness.
