Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and slice the onions into halves or quarters.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for approximately 5-7 minutes until they get a light golden color.
- Pour in the beef (or vegetable) broth, season with salt and pepper, and allow the mixture to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Transfer the sautéed onion mixture into a baking dish, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the onions are fully caramelized and tender.
- Top with optional garnishes and serve hot.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven for optimal texture and flavor.
