Preparation
- Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the tater tots. Spread them out on a baking sheet and bake until crispy, typically about 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning.
- While the tater tots are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken sausage, removing it from its casing if necessary. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks, roughly 8-10 minutes.
- Once the sausage is browned, prepare the gravy according to the package instructions. Stir in the water and mix until you achieve your desired gravy consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a separate pan, cook the eggs sunny-side up or scrambled, based on your preference.
Assembly
- Once the tater tots are ready, remove them from the oven. Start with a base of tater tots in your serving bowl. Top with the chicken sausage gravy, followed by the cooked eggs. Sprinkle the cheese (if using) and green onions on top.
- Dig in while it’s hot, savoring the contrast of textures and flavors in this delicious Tater Tot Breakfast Bowl with Chicken Sausage Gravy!
Notes
If you can’t find chicken sausage, turkey sausage or a plant-based alternative can work just as well. For perfectly crispy tater tots, make sure they are evenly spread on the baking sheet and keep an eye on them as oven times can slightly vary. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2–3 days.
