Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 large large flour tortillas
  • 1 lb ground beef or chicken Ensure it's Halal
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Ensure it's Halal
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with pepper jack
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup salsa

Method

Cooking the Meat
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or chicken. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
Seasoning
  1. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and a splash of water. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Preparing Tortillas
  1. Lay out your tortillas on a clean surface. On each tortilla, evenly spread a generous scoop of the seasoned meat.
Adding Cheese & Veggies
  1. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the meat followed by lettuce and diced tomatoes.
Rolling It Up
  1. Carefully roll each tortilla tightly, tucking the ingredients in as you go. Secure with toothpicks if necessary.
Heating It Up
  1. Place the rolled tortillas seam-side down in a skillet over medium heat. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until the tortillas are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Slicing & Serving
  1. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute. Slice the roll-ups into bite-sized pieces and serve with dollops of sour cream and salsa on the side.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider using ground turkey or plant-based meat substitutes. Avoid overstuffing your tortillas to prevent them from becoming difficult to roll.
