Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Fresh Jalapeños, sliced Use gloves when handling.
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by washing and slicing approximately one pound of fresh jalapeños. Remember to wear gloves if you’re sensitive to spice.
Cooking
  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, apple cider vinegar, water, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once the mixture has boiled, reduce the heat to a simmer. Add in your sliced jalapeños and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the jalapeños start to soften but still retain their crunch.
Cooling and Storing
  1. Remove the pot from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Transfer the jalapeños into sterilized jars and pour the syrup over them, ensuring they are fully submerged. Let cool completely before sealing the jars.
  2. Place your jars in the refrigerator and allow the cowboy candy to sit for at least 24 hours for the best flavor.

Notes

Store your Sweet & Spicy Cowboy Candy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks. Freezing is not recommended as the texture can change upon thawing.
