Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade
  • 1 pound chicken breast (cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
For Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 pack Wooden or metal skewers If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces with teriyaki sauce, honey, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well until all pieces are coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes (or longer for more flavor).
Grilling
  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Take your skewers and thread the marinated chicken pieces onto them, making sure to leave a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  2. Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  3. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve your sweet & savory skewers warm with additional teriyaki sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken for a few hours or overnight in the fridge. You can use chicken thighs for juicier skewers, just adjust the cooking time accordingly. Ensure your grill is hot enough before adding the skewers to prevent the chicken from sticking. Got leftovers? Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
