Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed The riper, the better for natural sweetness.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar Adjustable to taste.
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Be careful not to overmeasure.
Optional Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts Optional for added flavor and texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
  3. Mix in the baking soda and salt, followed by the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, stirring well to combine.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the banana mixture, gently folding it in until just combined. A few lumps are perfectly fine!
  5. If using, fold in the chocolate chips or nuts into the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For freezing, slice the bread and place in a freezer-safe bag.
