Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
- Mix in the baking soda and salt, followed by the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, stirring well to combine.
- Sprinkle the flour over the banana mixture, gently folding it in until just combined. A few lumps are perfectly fine!
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips or nuts into the batter.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For freezing, slice the bread and place in a freezer-safe bag.
