  • 2 cups grated apples Use Honeycrisp or Fuji apples for sweetness.
  • 1 cup almond flour Gluten-free alternative.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar substitute Like Stevia or erythritol.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • To taste chopped nuts or sugar-free chocolate chips Optional for additional flavor and texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies.
  3. In a large bowl, combine almond flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
  4. In another bowl, mix together grated apples, unsweetened applesauce, sugar substitute, and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  5. Add the wet mixture to your dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. If desired, fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Transfer the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in individual portions for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or in the oven at 350°F for 5-8 minutes.
