Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies.
- In a large bowl, combine almond flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
- In another bowl, mix together grated apples, unsweetened applesauce, sugar substitute, and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
- Add the wet mixture to your dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- If desired, fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before slicing into squares.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in individual portions for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or in the oven at 350°F for 5-8 minutes.
