Ingredients

For the Ice Cream Base
  • 1 cup heavy cream Use high-quality cream for best results.
  • 1 cup whole milk Whole milk recommended for creaminess.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar Divide into two parts for strawberries and base.
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract Use pure extract for better flavor.
  • 1 each vanilla bean Split and seeds scraped out.
  • a pinch salt Enhances flavor.
For the Strawberries
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries Hulled and sliced.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and ¼ cup of granulated sugar. Let the mixture sit for about 15-20 minutes to bring out the natural juices of the strawberries.
  2. Once the strawberries are juicy, blend them until smooth, leaving a few chunks for texture if desired.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and the vanilla bean seeds. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Gently fold the blended strawberries into the cream mixture until well combined.
  5. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours to ensure it's cold before churning.
Churning
  1. Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, this will take about 20-25 minutes.
  2. Once churned, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for another 2-4 hours to firm it up.
Serving
  1. Scoop your delicious Strawberry Vanilla Bean Ice Cream into bowls or cones. Top with your favorite fruits, sauces, or crushed cookies, if desired!
