  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Can substitute with coconut oil or vegan butter for a Halal-friendly option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the filling
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s hot and ready for the bars.
  2. Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan with a little butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the softened butter and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Use your hands or a fork to mix until crumbly and well-combined.
  5. Press half of the oat mixture firmly into the bottom of your prepared baking pan.
  6. Spread the sliced strawberries evenly over the oat layer.
  7. Crumble the remaining oat mixture over the strawberries, ensuring it covers them generously.
  8. Place the pan in your preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely before slicing into bars.
  10. Serve and enjoy your creation with family and friends!
