Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shape the Donuts
- On a floured surface, lightly knead the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Use a donut cutter (or two round cookie cutters) to cut out donut shapes.
Fry the Donuts
- In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat oil over medium heat.
- Fry the donuts in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Make the Strawberry Cream Filling
- While the donuts cool, whip the heavy cream in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form.
- Fold in the pureed strawberries and powdered sugar until well combined.
Fill the Donuts
- Use a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with the corner cut off) to pipe the strawberry cream into the center of each donut.
