Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup strawberries, diced
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
For the Glaze
  • ½ cup strawberries (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until warm (not hot) and add it to the flour mixture along with the melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix until combined. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
Kneading
  1. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth.
  2. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for about 30 minutes.
Filling
  1. While the dough is rising, mix the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
Forming and Baking
  1. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle (about 12 x 8 inches). Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and brown sugar, then sprinkle over the cream cheese layer.
  3. Starting from the long edge, roll up the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
Glazing
  1. While the rolls are baking, blend strawberries with powdered sugar until smooth to create the glaze.
  2. Once the rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, drizzle the strawberry glaze over the top and serve warm.
