Ingredients

For the Marinate
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste) Adjust based on spice tolerance.
  • 2 tablespoons honey For sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil For added richness.
For Cooking
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs Main protein.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For frying.
  • Sesame seeds to taste for garnish
  • Chopped green onions to taste for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine gochujang, honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  2. Add the chicken thighs and coat them well. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken thighs to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, and pour the remaining marinade into the skillet. Cook until the sauce thickens and sticks to the chicken, about 2-3 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve the sticky chicken over rice or your favorite quinoa, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.

Notes

For best results, marinate longer for more flavor. If gochujang is unavailable, sriracha with honey can be used as a substitute. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
