Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces Thighs are juicier, breasts are leaner.
  • 1/2 cup honey Provides sweetness in the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Adds savory flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Essential for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated (optional) Adds a hint of spice.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For cooking the chicken.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Used to thicken the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup water To mix with cornstarch.
  • Salt and pepper to taste For seasoning.
  • Sliced green onions for garnish Optional garnish.
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional) Add for extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season them lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger (if using), and water. Mix well until combined.
  3. In a ziplock bag or a bowl, add chicken and pour half of the honey garlic sauce over it. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken (without the sauce) and cook until golden brown.
  2. Take the remaining sauce and add cornstarch mixed with a little water to it. Stir well.
  3. Once the chicken is cooked, pour the sauce into the skillet and simmer until thickened.
  4. Serve hot, garnishing with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pair with jasmine rice or quinoa, and serve with steamed broccoli or a colorful mixed salad. Adjust cornstarch for desired sauce thickness and add red pepper flakes for heat if desired.
