Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound steak (sirloin or ribeye, cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 piece bell pepper (any color, cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1 medium onion (cut into wedges)
  • 1 cup mushrooms (button or portobello, whole or halved)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden or metal skewers (soaked if wooden)

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the steak into 1-inch cubes and prepping your veggies: chop the bell pepper and onion, and halve the mushrooms if needed.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed steak, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure all pieces are coated. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 15 minutes, or longer if you have time.
  3. Grab your skewers and begin loading them with a piece of steak, followed by a piece of onion, a bell pepper, and a mushroom. Repeat until the skewer is filled, leaving a bit of space at both ends for easy handling.
  4. While assembling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Grilling
  1. Once the grill is ready, place the skewers on it. Grill for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.
  2. Remove the kabobs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. They pair perfectly with rice or a fresh salad.

Notes

To level up your kabobs, consider substitutions like chicken or shrimp. Avoid overcrowding skewers for even cooking, and never skip marinating to retain flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for two months. Reheat in a preheated oven or skillet.
