Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Lightly flour a countertop and turn out the dough. Knead it gently for about 1-2 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a rectangle (about 12x8 inches).
- In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar together, then sprinkle evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Starting from the longer side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal.
- Slice the log into 1-inch thick pieces. You can simply place them in a greased round baking dish or arrange them in a flower shape for a fun presentation.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden on top.
- In a small bowl, mix the icing sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk to reach your desired consistency. Drizzle over the warm cinnamon rolls once out of the oven.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Dough consistency should be soft but not sticky. Experiment with fillings such as chopped nuts or raisins. If time permits, chill the dough for 15-30 minutes before rolling to make shaping easier. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
