Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey Use halal-certified ground turkey.
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (halal-compliant)
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste) Can substitute with sriracha.
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped For garnish.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds For garnish.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. Cook until browned, around 5-7 minutes.
  4. Once the turkey is cooked through, stir in the soy sauce, gochujang, honey, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve over rice or noodles as desired.

Notes

For substitutions, sriracha can be used instead of gochujang. Always monitor the turkey while cooking to prevent overcooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
