Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 to 2 jalapeños, diced adjust according to spice preference
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • chopped cilantro

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Begin by dicing the onion, mincing the garlic, and chopping the jalapeños.
Cooking the Meat
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it is no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Drain the excess grease and transfer the meat to the crockpot.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Add the diced onion, garlic, jalapeños, black beans, kidney beans, and crushed tomatoes to the pot.
Seasoning
  1. Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
  2. The longer it cooks, the better the flavors meld together!
Serving
  1. Once cooked to perfection, scoop your chili into bowls and top with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with the bean variety and adjust jalapeño amounts for desired spiciness. Leftovers taste even better the next day.
