Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Use plain cream cheese for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg Room temperature for best mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the dry ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Can adjust according to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy with an electric mixer (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Gradually mix in the sugar until well combined. Then add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the cream cheese mixture, blending until just combined.
  6. Using a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.
Baking
  1. Bake cookies for 12-15 minutes or until edges begin to turn golden; check around the 12-minute mark.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week; they can also be frozen for up to three months.
