  • 4 pieces ripe peaches, halved and pitted Opt for peaches that are ripe but still slightly firm.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Can be substituted with coconut sugar or honey.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted in a skillet.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice To balance the sweetness.
  • as needed optional whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving Pairs perfectly with the spiced peaches.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by slicing your ripe peaches in half and removing the pits.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet or frying pan, melt the 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  2. Once the butter has melted, add in the 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is bubbly.
  3. Gently place the peach halves cut-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes until they are beautifully caramelized and tender.
  4. After the peaches are done cooking, drizzle with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to balance the sweetness.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool for a minute before serving.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds or in a skillet over low heat until warm.
