Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Fillings
  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
Glaze
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar, eggs, milk, and melted butter until well-combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Carefully pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples and brown sugar until evenly distributed in the batter.
Baking
  1. Transfer the batter to the greased loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Glazing
  1. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  2. Once completely cool, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze if desired.
