Preparation
- Start by draining the can of salmon and flaking it into a large mixing bowl. Make sure to check for any bones and remove them if desired.
- Add breadcrumbs, chopped onion, chopped celery, beaten egg, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the salmon. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Using your hands, shape the mixture into small patties (about 2-3 inches in diameter). You should aim for 6-8 patties total.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of cooking oil over medium heat. You want it hot enough so that it sizzles when you add the patties.
- Carefully add the salmon patties to the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd them. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Once cooked, place the patties on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve warm, with your favorite dipping sauce!
Notes
For a healthier version, try baking the patties in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes on each side. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
