Southern Fried Salmon Patties: A Flavorful Delight!

There’s something undeniably comforting about Southern Fried Salmon Patties. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these patties promise a whirlwind of flavors that will have your taste buds dancing! Did you know that salmon has long been celebrated in Southern cuisine, much like fried chicken and cornbread? That’s right! This dish brings together the richness of canned salmon, the crunch of cornmeal, and just a hint of onion for a delightful bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 14 3/4 ounce canned salmon, drained
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the Salmon: In a medium bowl, add the drained canned salmon, breaking it up with a fork.
  • Mix in Ingredients: Stir in the finely chopped onion, cornmeal, flour, beaten egg, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Shape the Patties: Form the mixture into small patties, about the size of your palm — this should yield roughly 6-8 patties.
  • Heat the Oil: In a frying pan, heat about 1/2 inch of oil over medium heat.
  • Fry the Patties: Gently place the patties in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, roughly 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Drain Excess Oil: Remove patties from the pan and let them drain on paper towels.
  • Serve Hot: Serve your delicious salmon patties warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
