Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Mixture
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Place dough balls on the baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart, and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
