Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place dough balls on the baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart, and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
