Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces cube steaks (about 1 pound total)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth Homemade or store-bought.
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust based on preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by seasoning both sides of the cube steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the cube steaks and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned.
  2. Remove the steaks and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked onions and stir well. Gradually add the beef broth while stirring continuously, allowing it to thicken into a rich gravy.
  4. Return the cube steaks to the skillet, submerging them in the gravy. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

For complete meals, serve with creamy mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, or rice. A salad and red wine pair excellently too.
