Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pre-made pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the rolled dough into rectangles (approx. 3x4 inches).
- In a small bowl, combine the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.
Assembly and Baking
- Place a tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center of half of the dough rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle some crushed graham crackers over the filling.
- Place another rectangle of dough over the filling. Gently press the edges with your fingers, then use a fork to crimp and seal the edges.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each poptart for a golden finish.
- Place the assembled poptarts onto a lined baking sheet and bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
For substitutions, you can use puff pastry or make a quick dough at home, ensuring all ingredients remain Halal-compliant. To keep them fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Unbaked poptarts can be frozen for up to 1 month.
