Ingredients

For the Poptarts
  • 1 package pre-made pastry dough Ensure the dough is Halal compliant.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • to taste powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pre-made pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  3. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the rolled dough into rectangles (approx. 3x4 inches).
  4. In a small bowl, combine the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Place a tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center of half of the dough rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle some crushed graham crackers over the filling.
  2. Place another rectangle of dough over the filling. Gently press the edges with your fingers, then use a fork to crimp and seal the edges.
  3. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each poptart for a golden finish.
  4. Place the assembled poptarts onto a lined baking sheet and bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For substitutions, you can use puff pastry or make a quick dough at home, ensuring all ingredients remain Halal-compliant. To keep them fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Unbaked poptarts can be frozen for up to 1 month.
