- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast them for 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. If using crackers, skip this step.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the softened cream cheese until creamy and smooth.
Assembly
- Spread a generous amount of cream cheese on each toasted baguette round or cracker.
- Lay a slice of smoked salmon over the cream cheese, draping it over the sides for an elegant presentation.
- Sprinkle capers and chopped dill or chives on top of the salmon, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
Serving
- Arrange the canapés on a platter and serve immediately.
Notes
For Halal-friendly options, substitute smoked trout or any other smoked fish for the salmon. Store uneaten canapés in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
