Ingredients

For the burgers

  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 pieces Burger buns Soft and sturdy
  • 4 slices Cheese slices Your choice: cheddar, American, etc.
For the Baconnaise Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Your favorite hot sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder For flavor
  • 1 pinch Salt To taste
Optional toppings
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Pickles
  • Onions

Method

Preparation
  1. Take your ground beef and shape it into loose balls of about 4-6 oz each.
  2. Preheat your griddle or skillet over high heat for a couple of minutes.
Cooking
  1. Place the meat balls onto the hot surface and smash them down to about 1/2 inch thickness. Season with kosher salt and black pepper.
  2. Leave the patties alone for 2-3 minutes to allow for caramelized edges.
  3. Place a slice of cheese on top of each patty and carefully flip them. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Making Baconnaise Sauce
  1. In a bowl, mix mayo, your favorite hot sauce, garlic powder, and salt until well blended.
Assembly
  1. Toast your buns lightly if desired, then spread baconnaise sauce on the bottom. Stack the patty with melted cheese on top, and add your desired toppings.
  2. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

High heat is key for a good crust. Do not overwork the meat to keep patties tender. Try different toppings to elevate your experience.
