Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and egg until fully incorporated.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cookie bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Upgrade your chocolate by using high-quality chocolate chips. Don’t overmix your batter to keep the bars tender and chewy. Adjust the bake time if needed.
