Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs beef (chuck roast or flank steak), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup soy sauce (ensure it’s halal)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the beef into 1-inch cubes and set it aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well-mixed.
Cooking
  1. Add the beef cubes to your slow cooker and pour the sauce over them, ensuring all the meat is well-coated.
  2. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. The meat should be tender and flavorful.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For better texture, allow the beef to cook low and slow. If using chicken, adjust cooking time to 4-6 hours on low. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
