Preparation
- Slice the onion and mince the garlic.
Cooking
- In a large pan over medium-high heat, sear the beef chuck roast on all sides until browned.
- Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of your slow cooker. Then, add the beef roast on top.
- Pour in the beef broth, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
- Once cooked, remove the beef roast and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the cooker.
Assembly
- If using cheese, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Fill French rolls with the beef mixture and top with cheese if desired.
- Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve the sandwiches warm with broth in small bowls for dipping.
Notes
For best results, don't skip the searing step to enhance the flavor. Leftover beef can be stored for up to 3-4 days in the fridge or frozen for up to three months.
