- Make sure to cook your chicken if it’s not already prepared.
- In your slow cooker, toss in the shredded chicken, rinsed wild rice, diced onion, carrots, and celery.
- Pour in the chicken broth until all ingredients are covered.
- Sprinkle in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Cover and set your cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the milk or cream and taste. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Top with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Consider using skim milk or a plant-based milk alternative for lower calories. Ensure wild rice is rinsed thoroughly to remove grit. If your soup gets too thick, add a bit more broth or water.
