Preparation
- Slice the onions and mince the garlic. If adding vegetables like carrots and potatoes, chop them into uniform pieces for even cooking.
- In your slow cooker, layer the sliced onions at the bottom for flavor and to prevent sticking.
- Place the beef tips on top of the onions, ensuring they are trimmed of excess fat.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the beef tips, followed by the minced garlic.
- In a separate bowl, mix the gravy packet with the beef broth until fully combined, then pour over the beef and onions.
- If using, add the chopped carrots and cubed potatoes on top of the beef and gravy mixture.
- Cover the slow cooker and set to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Serving
- Once done, the beef should be fork-tender. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or with fresh bread to soak up the gravy.
