  • 2-3 pounds round steak A tender cut of beef for slow cooking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the round steak with salt and pepper, then sear on both sides until browned (about 3-5 minutes per side).
  3. Place the chopped onion and minced garlic in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  4. Transfer the seared steak to the slow cooker on top of the onions and garlic.
  5. In a medium bowl, mix beef broth, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano. Pour this mixture over the steak.
Cooking
  1. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for about 8 hours, or until the meat is tender and easy to shred.
  2. Once cooked, remove the steak from the cooker and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Serving
  1. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, fluffy rice, or a green salad with a tangy vinaigrette.

Notes

For best results, marinate the steak overnight with spices. Check the meat after 6 hours for tenderness. Pair the dish with hearty red wine or insulated iced tea.
