Preparation
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Season the round steak with salt and pepper, then sear on both sides until browned (about 3-5 minutes per side).
- Place the chopped onion and minced garlic in the bottom of your slow cooker.
- Transfer the seared steak to the slow cooker on top of the onions and garlic.
- In a medium bowl, mix beef broth, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano. Pour this mixture over the steak.
Cooking
- Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for about 8 hours, or until the meat is tender and easy to shred.
- Once cooked, remove the steak from the cooker and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Serving
- Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, fluffy rice, or a green salad with a tangy vinaigrette.
Notes
For best results, marinate the steak overnight with spices. Check the meat after 6 hours for tenderness. Pair the dish with hearty red wine or insulated iced tea.
