Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • to taste Olive oil for cooking

Method

Preparation
  1. Dice the potatoes, onion, and bell pepper. Set them aside.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Add the diced potatoes, season with salt and pepper, and cook until they are golden brown and tender, about 10-12 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking.
  3. Push the potatoes to one side of the skillet. In the other side, add the onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they soften.
  4. Add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Add garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce.
  5. Mix everything together in the skillet and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and cover the skillet. Let it cook for another minute or two until the cheese melts.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh chopped green onions, and serve warm.

Notes

To serve, consider adding a refreshing salad or homemade coleslaw for a crunch. Garlic bread pairs well to soak up the flavors.
