Ingredients
  

For the Shrimp
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined Choose fresh shrimp for best flavor.
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 whole lemon, halved
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • to taste Ice (for chilling)
For the Cocktail Sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by bringing the water, lemon halves, and Old Bay seasoning to a boil in a large pot. Set a bowl of ice water nearby.
Cooking
  1. Once the water is boiling, add the shrimp. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them!
  2. Quickly transfer the shrimp to the bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for a few minutes before draining.
Sauce Preparation
  1. In a separate bowl, mix together the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serving
  1. Arrange the chilled shrimp on a platter with the cocktail sauce in the center. Garnish with lemon wedges if desired and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Keep shrimp and sauce separate until ready to serve. Do not reheat shrimp; it is best enjoyed cold.
